Beach Day!

Last Friday Jonathan and his department were given the day off. When we talked about what we might want to do I suggested, “maybe if the weather is nice, we can go to the B-E-A-C-H.” To which Abigail exclaimed, “the beach!” It turns out that the weather on Friday was perfect for the beach and we had a blast.

We went to Salisbury Beach State Park Reservation and scored free parking too. We spent a good four hours there and spent most of our time dodging wave and playing in the sand.

Last Day of School!

This past Wednesday was our last day of school. It was by no means an easy year, but we ended well. School for us was extremely laid back, but I am proud to say that both Sarah and Abigail learned a great deal over the year. I think we also should have an easier time doing more “real” school this fall, when Abigail starts Kindergarten.

At the beginning and end of the year I did interviews with the girls as well as first and last day of school pictures. I thought it would be fun to share how they’ve both changed over the past year:

Next year Abigail will start Kindergarten. We are using My Father’s World God’s Creation from A to Z. I’m confident that Sarah will be able to sit in on a lot of it, but I do plan on having activities that better suit her learning style (she is very wiggly). I know that I will have to also come up with fun school-time-only activities for Lily who is very needy when it comes to being entertained during her waking hours. We’ll see how it goes!

Father’s Day

We had a nice quiet Father’s Day at home this year. We started the day like most Father’s Days-with a hearty breakfast and presents. This year we got Daddy a travel mug for work and a nice frame to hold pictures from our last photo shoot with my friend Krista. This will make for a nice office accessory. The girls also made their Dad personalized cards. I love Sarah’s, not only did she include every member of our family, but she also added two aliens that she said Daddy fought against. The sad part was that the aliens won. It’s still cute though!IMG_8249IMG_8251IMG_8252IMG_8258IMG_8261

After church we had a yummy lunch of my Grandma’s homemade gravy and meatballs. Then I got a little Father’s Day treat of sorts. Jonathan took the older two gals for a trip to the park while I stayed behind so Lily could nap.

All in all it was a great Father’s Day!

Bridget is Three!

My niece and the girls’ favorite girly cousin is three! We had a blast celebrating Tinker Bell style. My sister and Mom ended up making an awesome cake with homemade fondant (so yummy). The girls thought it was amazing!

Happy Birthday Miss Bridget! It is so fun watching you grow up with the girls-so many fun memories!

More Summer Weather Fun!

As much as I’d love to be living in a house right now, living in an apartment complex has its perks-one being a pool. We visited the pool for the first time this past Saturday. I would never consider going during the week when Jonathan isn’t around-that would be insane.

It took Lily a little while to start enjoying herself. We also did a bit of tweaking with floaties and vests for the older girls. It turns out that now Abigail does really well with just a pair of arm floaties. Sarah can be pretty independent as well with arm floaties and the “vest” Abigail used for the past two years.

Abigail took it upon herself to attempt swimming with her head under the water. I’d say she’s ready for some real lessons. Hopefully we can get to the pool more this summer and Jonathan could teach her.

Sprinkler Park Fun!

Last weekend was the unofficial start of summer-Memorial Day weekend. The weekend, however, felt nothing like summer. This weekend on the other hand will be very summer-like. We are in day two of a three day heat wave where temperatures are supposed to hover around 90 degrees. Yesterday we hunkered down, but today we ventured out for some fun relief from the heat. I took the girls to a splash pad/spray park that’s about a 20 minute drive away and then a little 5-10 minute hike from the parking lot.

I was worried that going by myself with my three girls would be a lot of work, but they made it very easy for me. Abigail was the only one I had to scan for every few moments, but only because she was having a blast running around and playing. Sarah pretty much stayed near me and Lily was very attached for most of our visit. Lily really didn’t like the whole getting wet aspect of the park. Overall though the girls had a great time and we hope to go again soon.
